Commonwealth Horizons: ‘Skills for the 21st Century’

• How might education and training systems best respond to the ever-changing needs of the next generation of Commonwealth citizens?
• How might demographic change impact?
• What are the needs of employers?
• What are the aspirations and concerns of young people?

The first CEC Autumn Conference will consider all these challenging problems from the perspectives of education providers and policy makers, employers as well as the current generation young people.

Leading professionals, employers, education providers, international and UK students and policy makers are scheduled to attend.

There will also be a forum comprising students from across the Commonwealth

 

Who should attend?
If you are a student, an employer, an education provider or a policy maker, this conference will be of major relevance for you. We have invited speakers and structured the programme to encourage all to be involved. Although the focus covers Commonwealth countries, the issues to be covered have direct global relevance.

International and UK students
• What and where will be the jobs of the future?
• How should I be preparing myself for these?
• What competencies and abilities will an employer be seeking?

Employers
• What are the expectations and perceptions of young people?
• How are policy makers and education providers attempting to respond to the needs of employers?
• What skills are important for your business?

Institutions (universities, colleges, training providers)
• What are the motivations of students when making their choice of study and training?
• How might these vary according to countries and subjects of choice?
• Are you preparing your students to enhance their employability?

Policy makers
• What skills will be in demand in the future and how should you respond?
• What are the needs of employers and young people?
• How can you deliver lifelong learning?


How much?

The delegate fee covers lunch and refreshments at the University of London and also for the Parliamentary Reception.
